Eighteenth NYC

The latest brand just launched in our boutique this season is EIGHTEENTH created by New York based designer Alexa Galler (NYU and Parsons New School of Design).

Alexa Galler originally started her first collections by mainly focusing on reworking the T-Shirt, making it more interesting by the way its cut.  Recently she intruduced new fabrics like silks and suedes with pieces that complement her jersey creations.

Âme Sœur my Soul Sister

Âme Sœur is a new luxury brand we are introducing this season literally translating to "Soul Sister".  Although the name is French, the brand has been founded by Berlin based sisters Madina and Sabina in 2008.

They wanted to create a label which puts the common process of creation aside and recalls new shapes and ideas in designing. The challenge was to develop a method which allows for making clothes by using a single-pattern piece and modelling it "par moulage".  Precisely placed stitches give the pieces architectural forms and unique volume. The results are garments with futuristic shapes and a unique look. Many of the styles can be worn in at least 2 different ways, to acheive totally different looks!

The Autumn Winter 2011 Collection is mainly done in wool fabric with some styles in jersey.

Black Bird:Baum Und Pferdgarten AW2011

Baum Und Pferdgarten launches their collection "Black Bird", as a tribute to the bird, the symbol of freedom, balance, perception,and watchfulness. Feathers give us wings to fly and the ability to gaze at the world from above, looking for new ways to broaden our horizon and explore new possibilities.  The mood is peoetic, honest, and intense like the dreamily and timeless universe created in an illustration by Sarah Moon.

 

Fur is very essential in this collection and Baum und Pferdgarten is proud to have developed a variation of fur in collaboration with Saga Furs. The result is an extremely soft and feathery fox fur used as the front piece of an elegant wool coat. Different interpretations of the bird or feathers are used frequently either in the structure of the fabrics, or as prints and graphics. One of the most eye-catching prints in the collection is a surrealistic illustration, half bird half human, made by the Danish design company All The Way To Paris. Baum und Pferdgarten also contributes with a signature print inspired by the owl's beautiful plumage.

The Autumn Winter 2011 collection from Marquito Couture is now at the boutique. This collection is so versatile and can be worn anytime of day or night; we especially love the roomy silhouettes, oversized wraps and this season's must have: the oversized cape.
